Statement

A participatory approach was chosen for characterizing the SSF segment and mapping its fishing grounds in the proximity of the 4 marine protected areas (MPA) of GFCM Geographical subarea (GSA 10): Regno di Nettuno, Punta Campanella, Santa Maria di Castellabate, and Costa degli Infreschi e della Masseta. Data were collected by Pietro Battaglia and Antonio Di Cintio through individual semi-structured face-to-face interviews with fishers and gathered spatial information was digitalised by Pamela Lattanzi.

The information was processed in QGIS by Pamela Lattanzi and Anna Nora Tassetti aggregating the collected data on a standardised 1kmx1km grid, and allowing the evaluation of the fishing effort (in fishing days) based on the employed gear.
